General Description

4,4′-Dinitro-2-biphenylamine is a nitrated aromatic amine that is a direct mutagen. In Salmonella typhimurium TA100, 4,4′-dinitro-2-biphenylamine causes base-pair reversion in the histidine locus.

Hazard

4,4'-dinitro-2-biphenylamine is a nitroaromatic amine compound that is irritating to the eyes and skin and may also cause respiratory irritation. In vitro studies have shown that, in the absence of S9 mixture, it exhibits direct mutagenicity in both TA98 and TA100 strains.
