Synthesis

3,6-Dichloro-1,2,4,5-tetrazine is one of several intermediates that can be prepared from guanidine hydrochloride and metformin in a five-step reaction. 3,6-Dichloro-1,2,4,5-tetrazine can be used to prepare a class of hydrogen sulfide fluorescent probe compounds. Biosulfhydryl compounds are crucial molecules in cells, playing important roles as antioxidants in damage and oxidative stress and interacting with metals as chelators and signaling agents.
