Chemical Properties

white to yellowish white, amorphous powder(s); used in plutonium separation, as an absorbent for rutin and quercetin [HAW93] [MER06]

Physical properties

Yellowish-white amorphous powder; density 4.96 g/cm³; insoluble in water, soluble in acids; Ksp 3.2 x 10-⁴⁰.

Uses

It is used for the hydrolysis of ribonucleic acid and as absorbent for rutin and quercetin. It is a component used in milk of bismuth is used in gastrointestinal disorders as a protective agent. It is used for the removal of nitrate and other anions from water by yellow bismuth hydroxide. A bismuth oxide nanoplate is useful for carbon dioxide gas sensor.

Uses

Bismuth hydroxide is used for the removal of nitrate and other anions from water,it is used in nanoplate-based carbon dioxide gas sensor,it is also used for the hydrolysis of ribonucleic acid and as an absorbent for rutin and quercetin.

Uses

As absorbent for rutin and quercetin; in hydrolysis of ribonucleic acid; in separation of plutonium from irradiated uranium.

Preparation

Bismuth hydroxide is precipitated by adding sodium hydroxide to a solution of bismuth nitrate.
