BOVINE PITUITARY EXTRACT Chemical Properties,Usage,Production

Chemical Properties

White Solid

Uses

A reagent for covalently attaching Biotin to proteins via a cleavable connector arm

General Description

Pituitary Extract, bovine (PEX) is an extract of bovine pituitary tissue containing growth factors. PEX can be used to promote the growth of several types of human epithelial cells in culture. Pituitary extract, bovine, is prepared using a modification of a published procedure.

Biological Activity

Pituitary Extract, bovine (PEX) or BPE is essential for mitotic activity and promotes the growth of several types of mammalian cells. It favors the proliferation of keratocytes culture and bovine knee chondrocytes. BPE helps in the synthesis of collagen and glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) in bovine knee chondrocytes.
