Application

9-Bbn triflate can be used to prepare Lewis acids of vinyloxyboranes and boryl nitrify salts; a catalyst for the coupling of silyl enol ethers and acetals; and a catalyst for the isomerization of epoxides to allyl alcohols.

Preparation

Equimolar amounts of 9-Borabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane and Trifluoromethanesulfonic Acid are mixed in hexane and stirred at 20 °C for 24 h after which time 9-BBN TRIFLATE is isolated by vacuum distillation.
