Pepsinostreptin is an enzyme inhibitor with the activity of inhibiting pepsin. Pepsinostreptin can form a 1:1 complex with pepsin and significantly inhibit its activity. The activity of pepsinostreptin makes it have important application potential in the study of protease inhibition and related biological processes[1].

This statin-containing peptidomimetic (FW = 670.87 g/mol)) Structure: Isobutyryl-L-Val-L-Val-Sta-L-Ala-Sta, where Sta is statine, or (3S,4S)-4- amino-3-hydroxy-6-methylheptanoic acid, from a stain of Streptomyces forms a high-affinity complex with pepsin, inhibiting its activity. Pepsinostreptin, which is identical to pepstatin A, except for the N-terminal isobutyryl group in place of pepstatin’s isovaleryl group, probably inhibits other aspartate proteinases
