Aqueous solutions of starch and ethyl cellulose are used as pastes for sticking paper; traditional wood glue is made by boiling animal bones; quickdrying adhesives are made by dissolving rubber or a synthetic polymer in a volatile solvent; and some polymers, such as epoxy resins and polyvinyl acetate (PVA), are themselves used as glues.
