Uses

Methyl carbamimidothioate is an important organic reagent that can be used as a building block for the synthesis of many organic compounds, such as 2-(Methylthio)pyrimidine and so on.

Solubility in organics

Methyl carbamimidothioate salts are soluble in water, methanol and ethanol.

storage

Methyl carbamimidothioate salts are toxic; when heated to decomposition, salts emit toxic fumes of SOx and NOx. S-Ethylisothiourea hydrogen sulfate reacts with Cl2 to produce nitrogen trichloride (Trichloramine), a dangerous explosive. Use in a fume hood.
