Preparation

(Triphenylphosphoranylidene)ketene (Ketenylidenetriphenylphosphorane) is prepared most conveniently by a β-elimination from (Methoxycarbonylmethylene)triphenylphosphorane using Sodium Hexamethyldisilazide or Sodium Amide as a base (eq 1).
