Synthesis
2-Methylquinoline 143.1 g (1 mol) was dissolved in 1000 ml of acetic acid, 300 ml of hydrogen peroxide (30%) was added, then heated to 80C and stirred for 4-5 hours.
The reaction was followed by thin layer on silica gel, unfolding agent: ethyl acetate, until the reaction was complete. Reduced pressure evaporation of acetic acid, residue dissolved in water, add an equal volume of dichloromethane stirring, separation of dichloromethane layer, drying with anhydrous sodium sulfate, concentration and column separation (pure ethyl acetate) to obtain 2-methyl quinoline N-oxide, light yellow solid 156g of crude product, yield 98%
