Uses
2-(4-Chlorobutyl)-1,3-dioxolane was used in the synthesis of C-chlorobutylpyrogallol[4]arene.
Purification Methods
If the IR has no CHO band, then just distil it in a vacuum. If it is present, then dissolve it in Et2O, wash it with H2O, then saturated NaHCO3, dry over MgSO4, evaporate and distil it. [cf Kriesat & Gisvold J Pharm Sci 60 1250 1971, Loftfield J Am Chem Soc 73 1365 1951.]
