Definition

The acidity of water is its quantitative capacity to react with a strong base to a designated pH and is usually expressed in milligrams per liter of equivalent calcium carbonate. The results for acidity depends upon the end-point pH (typically pH 3.7 or pH 8.3) or the indicator used.
