Description

Tris(4-bromophenyl)amine (TBPA) is a precursor to the oxidising agent Magic Blue. TBPA can be oxidised at relatively accessible electrode potentials, and its radical cation acts as a relatively mild single-electron oxidising agent, allowing for better control of the reaction rate. TBPA is commonly used in photochemical and electrochemical ESR studies.

Tri(4-bromophenyl)amine is a key raw material for the synthesis of a novel three-branched triphenylamine organoboron complex (TPAB). TPAB can be successfully synthesized through Suzuki coupling, condensation, and coordination reactions with 4-aminophenylboronic acid pinacol ester, 4-diethylaminosalicylaldehyde, and boron trifluoride etherate.
