Biological Activity
Pregnancy zone protein (PZP) functions as a plasma protease inhibitor. Experimental studies suggest th at PZP might also play a vital role in regulation of T-helper cells and/or extracellular chaperones. Overexpression of PZP has been observed in senile plaques and in microglial and glial cells in Alzheimerμs disease (AD) patients. In addition, PZP expression is also upregulated in normal pregnancy and various other inflammatory conditions.
