Cobalt meso-tetraphenylporphrine is used as a hydrogen catalyst. Meso-tetraphenylporphrine compounds are used as inhibitors of microtubule assembly in human cervix carcinoma cells.

Biological Activity

Tetraphenylporphyrin serves as an efficient inhibitor for Mg and its alloys. It is mainly used as a porphyrin moiety, in the preparation of ligand and introduction of metal in porphyrin.

Purification Methods

Purify TPP by chromatography on neutral (Grade I) alumina, and recrystallisation from CH2Cl2/MeOH or *C6H6. It forms complexes with metals. [Yamashita et al. J Phys Chem 91 3055 1987, Beilstein 26 III/IV 1958.]
