METHYLSTYRENE Chemical Properties,Usage,Production
Uses
α-Methylstyrene is a byproduct of the cumene process for producing phenol and acetone. Its main uses are as follows: 1. Organic synthesis intermediate: α-MS is a basic raw material for organic synthesis and can be used to synthesize cumene, dicumene peroxide, p-cumylphenol, etc. 2. Comonomer: α-MS can be used as a resin modifier, copolymerizing with acrylonitrile, methyl methacrylate, maleic anhydride, etc., to produce copolymer resins with different properties.
Definition
ChEBI: 4-Methylstyrene is a member of styrenes.
