Biological Activity
PARD6B (par-6 family cell polarity regulator beta) gene encodes a member of the PAR6 family. It is an adapter protein th at functions in asymmetrical cell division and cell polarization processes. It may function in the formation of epithelial tight junctions. It forms a component of the PAR-atypical protein kinase C (aPKC) complex, which is a polarity protein complex involved in the polarization processes during epithelial morphogenesis, astrocyte migration, and axon specification.
