Uses

TRAP-6 is a PAR-1-activating peptide.

General Description

Thrombin Receptor Activator Peptide 6 (TRAP-6) protects astrocytes from cell death, which is associated with hypoglycemia. TRAP-6 induced aggregation and impaired adhesion to collagen under flow conditions.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Hexapeptide fragment of the thrombin receptor (residues 42-47). Shown to activate the thrombin receptor and cause platelet aggregation (EC50 = 0.8 μM).

in vivo

TRAP (1 mg/kg; i.v.) produces a biphasic response in blood pressure in inactin-anesthetized rats[3].
