Colorless, slightly viscous liquid. B.P. 338℃. Sp.Gr. 1.05.Practically insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils.
Uses
3-Phenylpropyl benzoate is occasionally used in perfume compositions as a fixative and modifier in herbaceous-floral and green-floral fragrance types.
Preparation
3-Phenylpropyl benzoate is produced from Phenylpropyl alcohol and Methyl benzoate by alcohol interchange reaction.
