Sodium-difluoro(oxalato)borate Usage And Synthesis
Uses
Sodium-difluoro(oxalato)borate can be used as a battery material. It can be used as an electrolyte additive to improve the performance and stability of the battery. As an electronic material, it can be used as an electronic device in the electrolyte due to its good solubility and conductivity. In chemical analysis, it is used as a fluorine-containing reagent and as a catalyst in the niobium (V) oxalate reagent.
Synthesis
Sodium-difluoro(oxalato)borate (NaDFOB) was synthesized by reacting sodium oxalate (Na2C2O4) with boron-trifluoride-diethyl-etherate (BF3?ether) in acetonitrile (CH3CN). After filtration, the desired product was isolated by removing CH3CN. Further purification was carried out by washing using tetrahydrofuran (THF). Dry NaDFOB was obtained after removing THF under a vacuum[1].
