Example 89: A reaction was carried out with 2,4-dibromothiazole (500 mg, 2.06 mmol) and morpholine (4.0 mL, 22.3 mmol) in a sealed tube at 50°C for 16 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the mixture was cooled to room temperature, diluted with 20 mL of water and extracted with three 30 mL portions of diethyl ether. The organic layers were combined, washed sequentially with five parts of 30 mL of water, 30 mL of brine, dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered and concentrated in vacuum. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography using ethyl acetate in hexane (0-30% gradient) as eluent to give 458 mg (89% yield) of the target product 4-(4-bromothiazol-2-yl)morpholine.
