ANTI-FLOTILLIN Usage And Synthesis
Uses
Anti-Flotillin 1-CY3TM antibody is suitable for direct immunofluorescence at a concentration of 2-5μg/mL using human HEK-293T or HeLa cells
General Description
Caveolae are small domains on the inner cell membrane involved in vesicular trafficking and signal transduction. FLOT1 encodes a caveolae-associated, integral membrane protein. The function of flotillin 1 has not been determined. (provided by RefSeq)
Biological Activity
Flotillin 1 is directly connected to the plasma membrane. The association of flotillin 1 depends on the palmitoylation in a conserved Cys34 residue, whereas the association of flotillin 2 depends on both myristolation and palmitoylation. Both the form possess a complementary tissue distribution. Flotillin 1 is mainly expressed in striated muscle tissues, adipose tissue and lung, whereas flotillin 2 is much widely found but absent from skeletal muscle. It has been reported th at flotillin 1 act as a molecular link between lipid rafts of the plasma membrane and a multimeric signaling complex at the actin cytoskeleton.
