Background

RNF128, also known as gene related to anergy in lymphocytes, is a RING finger protein family E3 ubiquitin ligase that participates in T cell anergy induction. RNF128 is a type I transmembrane protein, made up of a zinc RING finger, coiled-coil, and protease-associated domain. Expression of RNF128/GRAIL has been shown to inhibit cytokine transcription and CD4 T cell proliferation, as well as regulate naïve T cell tolerance induction and Treg cell function.
