ENPROSTIL Usage And Synthesis
Description
Enprostil is one of three, orally-active prostaglandins (see rnisoprostol and rosaprostol) for the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers. An allenic PGE2 derivative, enprostil is both antisecretory (acid, gastrin) and cytoprotective.
Chemical Properties
White or off-white waxy solid, softens at 30°C, liquefies at 46°C. Very soluble in water or ethanol or propylene glycol or propylene carbonate. Extremely soluble in water, soluble in ethanol or propylene glycol or propylene carbonate.UV Maximum Absorption (methanol): 220, 265, 271, 277nm (ε10200, 1380, 1740, 1450).
