Synthesis
2-Chloro-1,3-dithiane can be easily obtained by chlorination of 1,3-Dithiane, either with N-Chlorosuccinimide (NCS) in benzene or with Sulfuryl Chloride in chloroform. The latter procedure generally gives a cleaner product and is described here.
