Description

Pregnenolone is a neurosteroid that serves as the precursor to all other neurosteroids found in the brain. Pregnenolone (PREG) is synthesized from cholesterol by the cholesterol side-chain cleavage enzyme (P450scc) and then is metabolized into different neuroactive steroids.
