Application
Manganese carbide can be used to prepare manganese tetroxide (Mn3O4). Mn3O4 is a crucial raw material in the electronics industry for producing manganese-zinc ferrite soft magnetic materials, and its applications are very wide. It has been reported that manganese carbide hydrolysis is one method for preparing Mn3O4 micropowder. Research has disclosed methods for producing Mn3O4 using manganese carbide alloys, a one-step method for producing low-selenium and high-specific-surface-area Mn3O4 using manganese carbide alloys, and a method for preparing Mn3O4 nanopowder using manganese carbide hydrolysis oxidation. This method utilizes the hydrolysis oxidation of manganese carbide (transition metal carbides) to prepare Mn3O4 micropowder. Since it does not involve catalysts, acids, alkalis, or other chemical reagents, it is clearly a truly green process compared to the electrolytic oxidation of manganese powder suspensions for preparing Mn3O4.
