Uses

Lanthanum Sulfate, also Lanthanum Sulphate is mainly applied in specialty glass, phosphors, water treatment and catalyst.

Description

Lanthanum(III) Sulfate Hydrate is a moderately water and acid soluble Lanthanum source for uses compatible with sulfates. Sulfate compounds are salts or esters of sulfuric acid formed by replacing one or both of the hydrogens with a metal. Lanthanum is used in cracking catalysts, advanced ceramics and in green phosphors.

Synthesis

Lanthanum hydroxide or lanthanum oxide is dissolved in sulfuric acid to obtain hydrated lanthanum sulfate, and then the hydrated lanthanum sulfate is heated slowly to obtain anhydrous lanthanum sulfate.
