IGF-1 LR3 Usage And Synthesis

Mechanism of action

IGF-1 LR3 binds to cell receptors in the muscle cells and activates cell communication, which then improves the growth rate of muscles.IGF-1 LR3 obstructs the movement of glucose into the body’s cells. This facilitates fat burning and the use of fat in the body for the production of energy. IGF-1 LR3 has a life in the body for about 20-30 hours and therefore enhance the growth amount of muscle for a whole day.

Structure

IGF-1 LR3 is a recombinant synthetic growth factor of ~9.1 kDa, a single polypeptide chain containing 83 amino acid residues. It is an analog of IGF-1 comprised of the complete IGF-1 sequence, with an Arginine substitution for the third position Glutamic acid and a 13 amino acid length N terminus peptide extension. It has been engineered for higher biological potency in vitro, with an increased half-life. This recombinant IGF-1 LR3 product is a highly potent growth factor ideal for stem cell research and cell manufacturing applications, including cells of the ectoderm linage (oligodendrocytes, motor neurons) and mesoderm linage (osteocytes, chondrocytes, and muscle cells).

Description

Long arginine 3-IGF-1, abbreviated as IGF-1 LR3 or LR3-IGF-1, is a synthetic protein and lengthened analogue of human insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1). It differs from native IGF-1 in that it possesses an arginine instead of a glutamic acid at the third position in its amino acid sequence ("arginine 3"), and also has an additional 13 amino acids at its N-terminus (MFPAMPLLSLFVN) ("long"), for a total of 83 amino acids (relative to the 70 of IGF-1).

Uses

The consequences of these modifications are that IGF-1 LR3 retains the pharmacological activity of IGF-1 as an agonist of the IGF-1 receptor, has very low affinity for the insulin-like growth factor-binding proteins (IGFBPs), and has improved metabolic stability.As a result, it is approximately three times more potent than IGF-1,and possesses a significantly longer half-life of about 20–30 hours (relative to IGF-1's half-life of about 12–15 hours).
