GENERAL METHOD: An aqueous KOH solution (10% w/v) was added to a THF solution containing ethyl 2-((tert-butoxycarbonyl)amino)thiazole-4-carboxylate. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature until the complete disappearance of the ingredients was confirmed by thin layer chromatography (TLC). Subsequently, the pH was adjusted to 4 by adding 1 M HCl and the reaction solution was extracted with ethyl acetate (EtOAc). The organic layer was dried with anhydrous magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) and subsequently concentrated under reduced pressure to afford the target product 2-Boc-aminothiazole-4-carboxylic acid.
