Definition
Distillates (petroleum), sweetened middle is a complex combination of hydrocarbons obtained by subjecting a petroleum distillate to a sweetening process to convert mercaptans or to remove acidic impurities. It consists of hydrocarbons having carbon numbers predominantly in the range of C9 through C20 and boiling in the range of approximately 150.degree.C to 345.degree.C (302.degree.F to 653.degree.F).

Toxics Screening Level
The initial threshold screening level (ITSL) for heavy aromatic solvent naphtha is 2 μg/m3 (annual averaging time), and this ITSL value was established by a Scientific Advisory Panel (SAP) on June 13, 1994 (SAP, 1994; see attached).
