Perfluoroisobutyronitrile Usage And Synthesis
Uses
Perfluoroisobutyronitrile is promoted as an alternative to sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) for interruption and insulation applications, it is also used as a dielectric additive.

Synthesis
In 2015, Michael et al.[1] obtained perfluorinated isobutylamide by reacting perfluorinated isobutylamide with ammonia gas, then perfluorinated isobutylamide underwent dehydration reaction under the action of pyridine and trifluoroacetic anhydride, and perfluorinated isobutylnitrile with 75% yield (Fig. 6). The method has mild conditions and no highly toxic and expensive reagents, so it has the prospect of industrial production.
