Glycerol 1-oleyl ether is a surfactant that forms a micellar solution as well as hexagonal liquid crystal phase in solution. It can also be used as a host to grow membrane proteins.

ChEBI: (9Z)-1-O-octadec-9-enyl glycerol is an alkylglycerol. It is functionally related to a glycerol.

in vivo

Selachyl alcohol (5 and 10 mg, oral gavage, 5 times; 1 mg, i.v., once) reduces blood pressure in hypertensive mice[1].

Animal Model:Male Sprague-Dawley rats with hypertension[1]
Dosage:5 and 10 mg (oral gavage); 1 mg (i.v.)
Administration:Oral gavage, 5 and 10 mg, 10 occasions; intravenous injection, 1 mg, once
Result:Induced blood pressure drops slowly about 60 mm Hg and remains for 20 minutes. Effectively reduced blood pressure by gastrointestinal tract.
