Fasoracetam Usage And Synthesis
Structure
Fasoracetam is a promising research chemical that is available in solid form in ambient conditions. Its chemical structure shows 2 amide functions that commonly take part in hydrogen bonding patterns. The carbonyl can serve as a hydrogen acceptor, whereas the amide can act as a hydrogen donor. Having multiple hydrogen bonding sites available could possibly lead to different packing arrangements. Furthermore, other racetam compounds have already shown a propensity toward the formation of multiple solid-state forms.
Description
Fasoracetam (NS-105, 5-oxo-d-prolinepiperidinamide) is a member of the racetam family, a drug of the pyrrolidone class, and is currently considered a research chemical. The class is characterized by its nootropic (e.g., piracetam and fasoracetam), stimulating (e.g., oxiracetam), and anticonvulsant (e.g., levetiracetam) properties. Studies have shown promising results in its ability to counter and reverse the effects of Alzheimer's disease[1].
Uses
Fasoracetam (NS 105) is the activator of metabotropic glutamate receptor (mGluR). Fasoracetam (NS 105) has the potential for the research of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and Alzheimer's disease (AD)[1][2].
Definition
ChEBI: Fasoracetam is an amino acid amide.
