General procedure for the synthesis of (R)-5-aminomethylpyrrolidin-2-one from the compound (CAS: 173828-76-7): (R)-5-(azidomethyl)pyrrolidin-2-one (150 mg, 1.07 mmol) was dissolved in methanol and palladium/carbon catalyst was added. The reaction mixture was transferred to an autoclave and after three degassing operations, hydrogen was charged to 30 psi and the reaction was stirred at room temperature for 30 min. After completion of the reaction, the catalyst was removed by filtration and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to afford the title compound (R)-5-(aminomethyl)pyrrolidin-2-one (92 mg, 75% yield). Low resolution mass spectrometry (LRMS) showed (M+H)+ m/z of 115.1.
