Fuel gases, crude oil distillates Usage And Synthesis
Definition
Fuel gases, crude oil distillates is a complex combination of light gases produced by distillation of crude oil and by catalytic reforming of naphtha. It consists of hydrogen and hydrocarbons having carbon numbers predominantly in the range of C1 through C4 and boiling in the range of approximately -217.degree.C to -12.degree.C (-359.degree.F to 10.degree.F).
Flammability and Explosibility
Extremely flammable
Agricultural Uses
Fuel gas is a product of coal, an important source of chemical raw materials. Distillation of coal (pyrolysis) yields coal tar and hydrocarbon gases which are upgraded by hydrogenation or methanation to synthetic crude oil and fuel gas, respectively.
