Definition
Extracts (petroleum), cold-acid is a complex combination of organic compounds produced by the cold acid unit extraction of aliphatic hydrocarbons, predominantly butenes and isobutylene. It consists predominantly of isobutylene polymer. Hydrocarbons having carbon numbers predominantly in the range of C3 through C6, tert-butanol and sulfuric acid esters may also be present.
