First Aid Measures

Ingestion

If swallowed, wash out mouth with water, provided that person is conscious.

Inhalation

Move patient to fresh air. Monitor for respiratory distress. If cough or difficulty breathing develops, evaluate for respiratory tract irritation, bronchitis, or pneumonitis. Administer oxygen and assist ventilation as required. Treat bronchospasm with beta2 agonist and corticosteroid aerosols.

Skin

Get medical aid. Flush skin with plenty of soap and water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash clothing before reuse.

Eyes

Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid.

Hazards Identification

Ingestion

Ingestion may cause severe injury, burns, or death.

Inhalation

Causes severe irritation.

Skin

Causes severe irritation.

Eyes

Causes severe irritation.

Hazards

These substances will accelerate burning when involved in a fire. Some may decompose explosively when heated or involved in a fire. May explode from heat or contamination. Some will react explosively with hydrocarbons (fuels). May ignite combustibles (wood, paper, oil, clothing, etc.). Containers may explode when heated. Runoff may create fire or explosion hazard.

Accidental Release Measures

Small spills/leaks

Keep sparks, flames, and other sources of ignition away. Keep material out of water sources and sewers. Build dikes to contain flow as necessary. Attempt to stop leak if without undue personnel hazard.

Stability and Reactivity

Incompatibilities

Can react with reducing agents to generate heat and products that may be gaseous (causing pressurization of closed containers) Can react violently with active metals, cyanides, esters, and thiocyanates.

Stability

Stable. Thermal decomposition will occur above 140 degrees F with the release of oxygen.

Combustion Products
