First Aid Measures

Ingestion

Seek medical attention. If individual is drowsy or unconscious, do not give anything by mouth; place individual on the left side with the head down. Contact a physician, medical facility, or poison control center for advice about whether to induce vomiting. If possible, do not leave individual unattended.

Inhalation

If symptoms develop, move individual away from exposure and into fresh air. If symptoms persist, seek medical attention. If breathing is difficult, administer oxygen. Keep person warm and quiet; seek immediate medical attention.

Skin

Remove contaminated clothing. Wash exposed area with soap and water. If symptoms persist, seek medical attention. Launder clothing before reuse.

Eyes

If symptoms develop, immediately move individual away from exposure and into fresh air. Flush eyes gently with water for at least 15 minutes while holding eyelids apart; seek immediate medical attention.

Hazards Identification

Ingestion

See inhalation.

Inhalation

Chlorophacinone is highly toxic orally and by skin absorption. The probable oral lethal dose for humans is less than 5 mg/kg to 50 mg/kg, or between a taste (less than 7 drops) and 1 teaspoonful for a 150 lb. (70 kg) person.

Skin

See inhalation.

Eyes

See inhalation

Hazards

Fire may produce irriating or poisonous gases. Runoff from fire control water may give off poisonous gases. Runoff from fire control or dilution water may cause pollution. When heated it emits toxic fumes of chlorides.

Fire Fighting Measures

Fire Fighting

(Non-Specific -- Coumarin Derivative Pesticide, Solid, n.o.s.) Container may explode in heat of fire. Keep unnecessary people away; isolate hazard area and deny entry. Stay upwind; keep out of low areas. Ventilate closed spaces before entering them. Wear positive pressure breathing apparatus and special protective clothing. Remove and isolate contaminated clothing at the site. If water pollution occurs, notify appropriate authorities.(Non-Specific -- Coumarin Derivative Pesticide, Solid, n.o.s.) Small fires: dry chemicals, carbon dioxide, water spray or foam. Large fires: water spray, fog or foam. Move container from fire area if you can do so without risk. Fight fire from maximum distance. Dike fire control water for later disposal; do not scatter the material.

Accidental Release Measures

Small spills/leaks

(Non-Specific -- Coumarin Derivative, Pesticide, Solid, n.o.s.) Do not touch spilled material; stop leak if you can do so without risk. Use water spray to reduce vapors. Small spills: absorb with sand or other non-combustible absorbent material and place into containers for later disposal. Large spills: dike far ahead of spill for later disposal.
