Yellow crystalline powder, soluble in organic solvents such as methanol, ethanol, and DMSO, derived from Tripterygium wilfordii.

Uses

Triptonide is a Triptolide (T815600) analogue used in the preparation of cytotoxic fluorinated Triptolide.

Definition

ChEBI: Triptonide is a diterpene triepoxide that is triptobenzene K in which the acylhydroquinone moiety has undergone oxidation to the corresponding triepoxyketone derivative. It has been isolated from the roots of Tripterygium wilfordii. It has a role as an antineoplastic agent, an anti-inflammatory agent and an immunosuppressive agent. It is a cyclic ketone, an organic heteroheptacyclic compound, a diterpene triepoxide and a butenolide.

in vivo

Triptonide (5 mg/kg; i.p.; daily; for 34 days) exerts a strong anti-lymphoma effect in mice[2].

Animal Model:Eight-week-old female NOD/SCID mice (18-22 g), with 3 x 107 Raji cells xenograft[2]
Dosage:5 mg/kg
Administration:Intraperitoneal injection, daily, for 34 days
Result:Potently inhibited lymphoma cell growth and tumorigenic capability.
