Uses

Methyl trans-3-methoxyacrylate may be used in the preparation of:

  • 5- hydroxyquinolines
  • 7-hydroxyquinolines
  • methyl 5-methoxyquinoline-3-carboxylate

Synthesis

Method 1: Starting from vinyl methyl ether and single phosgene in the presence of solvent and catalyst addition reaction to produce chloride and propionyl chloride, propionyl chloride and methanol in the presence of organic base substitution condensation to produce chlorinated alkyl esters, alkyl esters and then in the presence of catalyst for cracking reaction, off HCl, to get 3-methoxyacrylic acid methyl ester.

Method 2: Methyl acrylate is used as raw material, 2,3-dibromopropionic acid methyl ester is obtained by bromination and addition, and then 3,3-dimethoxypropionic acid methyl ester is obtained by etherification with sodium methanol, and then cracking reaction is carried out under the presence of catalyst, and HCl is taken off, and then 3-methoxyacrylic acid methyl ester is obtained.
