Description

SOPC; PC(18:0/18:1), also known as 1-stearoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine, is an asymmetrical phospholipid with saturated fatty acid (stearic acid/18:0) at sn-1 position and unsaturated fatty acid (oleic acid/18:1) at sn-2 position.

Chemical Properties

1-Stearoyl-2-oleoyl phosphatidylcholine (SOPC) is off-white solid form, common solvents: soluble in DMSO, ethanol, methanol, insoluble in water.

Uses

1-Stearoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine is used in the assembly of various supported lipid bilayers.

Definition

ChEBI: 1-stearoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine is a phosphatidylcholine 36:1 in which the phosphatidyl acyl groups at positions 1 and 2 are stearoyl and oleoyl respectively. It is a 1-octadecanoyl-2-octadecenoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine and a 1-acyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine betaine. It is a conjugate base of a 1-stearoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine(1+).
