Dendrophenol Chemical Properties,Usage,Production

Chemical Properties

Off-white crystals, easily soluble in methanol and ethyl acetate, almost insoluble in water, derived from Dendrobium nobile.

Uses

Dendrophenol can be used to protect against high glucose-evoked nephrotoxicity in vivo. It can be used with HPLC-PDA-HRMS-SPE-NMR for determination of its inhibitive activities.

Biological Activity

Gigantol is a bibenzyl compound isolated from Dendrobium orchids (Dendrobium aphyllum, Dendrobium draconis, Dendrobium aurantiacum, etc.) th at exhibits potent cytotoxic activity against several cancer cell lines. It inhibits the migratory behavior of non-small cell lung cancer cells. Gigantol inhibits galactose-induced formation of cataracts through repression of the gene expression and activity of AR and iNOS.

in vivo

LDD and Gigantol isomer-1 (25–100 mg/kg, p.o.) significantly increase the hot-plate latency in comparison to vehicle-treated mice and decreased carrageenaninduced inflammation in rats^[2].
