Production Methods

3,3-Dimethoxypropanenitrile can be obtained from acrylonitrile by reaction with methanol in the presence of nitrite and platinum- or palladiumcatalysts. It is a valuable starting material for the synthesis of 4-aminopyrimidines such as cytosine.
