Uses

N,O-Bis(trifluoroacetyl)hydroxylamine is used in conversion of aldehydes to nitriles.

Preparation

N,O-Bis(trifluoroacetyl)hydroxylamine is prepared in addition of Trifluoroacetic Anhydride (2.2 equiv) to Hydroxylamine hydrochloride.

storage

N,O-BIS(TRIFLUOROACETYL)HYDROXYLAMINE is hygroscopic; should be dried in a vacuum desiccator.

Purification Methods

N,O-Bis(trifluoroacetyl)hydroxylamine is recrystallized from CH2Cl2.
