Synthesis

In l00mL hydrothermal synthesis reactor, add sodium hydroxide (3mmol), water (5mL), stirring to dissolve, add m-iodophenylacetic acid (0.5mmol), cuprous oxide (0.05mmol), white hardwood cortisol (0.05mmol), the reaction at 100 ?? C stirred uniformly for 6 hours, cooled down with dilute hydrochloric acid to adjust the pH to 2, and then extract with ethyl acetate. , the extract was concentrated and column chromatography, obtained m-hydroxyphenylacetic acid, 54.0 mg, yield 71%.

Purification Methods

Crystallise the acid from *C6H6/ligroin or EtOAc/cyclohexane (m 131-132o). [Beilstein 10 H 189, 10 I 82, 10 II 112, 10 III 428, 10 IV 541.]
