Plasticizer, extreme-pressure lubricant, hydraulic fluids, gasoline additive, food packaging.
Definition
Probably seldom a pure compound, but a mixture of o-, m-, and p-cresyl and phenyl phosphates.
General Description
A clear transparent liquid with a very slight odor. Insoluble in water. Primary hazard is to the environment. Immediate steps should be taken to limit spread to the environment. Easily penetrates the soil to contaminate groundwater and nearby waterways.

Reactivity Profile
Organophosphates, such as CRESYL DIPHENYL PHOSPHATE, are susceptible to formation of highly toxic and flammable phosphine gas in the presence of strong reducing agents such as hydrides. Partial oxidation by oxidizing agents may result in the release of toxic phosphorus oxides.
Health Hazard
Inhalation of material may be harmful. Contact may cause burns to skin and eyes. Inhalation of Asbestos dust may have a damaging effect on the lungs. Fire may produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases. Some liquids produce vapors that may cause dizziness or suffocation. Runoff from fire control may cause pollution.
Fire Hazard
Some may burn but none ignite readily. Containers may explode when heated. Some may be transported hot.
Synthesis
Pump 430 kg of m-p-cresol and 710 kg of molten phenol into the reaction kettle at one time, and add quantitative calcium and magnesium catalysts; when the material temperature (which can be stirred with a meeting) is less than 50 (stop stirring), pump 570 kg of phosphorus triclosan into the kettle; start the atmospheric acid drainage system, start stirring, and the jacket is slowly fed with steam to begin to heat up the temperature, and the temperature of the liquid is increased to about 70 in about 1.5 hours, and then the liquid temperature is increased to 95 at a rate of about 4-5 per hour, and then increased to 125 at a rate of about 4-7 per hour, and then increased to 140 at an equilibrium rate of 4-7 per hour. Reaction, at a rate of about 4-5 per hour, warming to 95 , equilibrium for 1 hour, and then 4-5 / hour to 125 , and then 5-7 / hour to about 140 , start the negative pressure acid discharge system, with about 1.5 hours to warm up to 160 or so, the negative pressure is about Above 720mmHg exhaust acid for 2 hours; exhaust acid finished; take a sample to measure the acid value, according to the result add appropriate amount of alkali (NaCO3 or NaOH) and neutralization, the temperature at 155 5 , the negative pressure is greater than 680mmHg, exhaust about 2 hours, measure the acid value is less than 4mgKOH/g, esterification is completed into crude ester. The crude ester will be pumped into the distillation pot, temperature and negative pressure distillation separation; the low-boiling material, middle distillate, finished products were collected; in the collection of finished products, pay attention to the flow, color, acid value, liquid temperature, vacuum; distillation, the finished product is filtered into the storage tank, take samples of qualified analysis, filtration, packaging and warehousing.
Purification Methods
