Uses

(R)-(+)-1-(1-Naphthyl)ethylamine hydrochloride is a pharmaceutical intermediate used in the preparation of cinacalcet hydrochloride, which treats secondary hyperparathyroidism due to chronic kidney disease. In addition, (R)-(+)-1-(1-Naphthyl)ethylamine hydrochloride is also used in analytical assays. Absolute configuration of primary amines determined using chiral (2-nitrophenyl)proline amides and 1H NMR.
