Definition

ChEBI: Valpromide is a fatty amide derived from valproic acid. It has a role as a metabolite, a teratogenic agent and a geroprotector. It is functionally related to a valproic acid.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Valpromide (VPD) is a derivative of valproic acid (VPA) and is used as an antiepileptic drug. It is hydrolyzed quickly to VPA in vivo, but has intrinsic anticonvulsant activity.
