  • As an alkylating agent in the alkylation of ethyl 3-oxoglutarate to form 2-(6-ethoxycarbonylhexyl)-3-oxoglutarate.
  • Synthesis of 1-substituted cyclopentadiene by alkylating lithium cyclopentadienide.5
